Shanghai is OK but don't give too much time to it, 2 full days is enough.

Food is expensive and drinks even more so. Go and eat at Young's Kitchen in the Old French concession. It has fairly good prices for Shanghai and the food is great.

Walk through the French concession to the China old town and to Yu Gardens Bazaar.

Take the metro at rush hour to see people pushing and shoving to get seats!
