China, Beijing
There's lots to do in Beijing.
Definately go and see the Summer Palace. It's a bit far out and a hasle on public transport but well worth it. Needs a full day.
You have to see the Great Wall and the best is to do the 10km hike from Jinshilang to Simitai. Get a minibus through your hotel that goes directly there without picking up people at other hotels otherwise you'll be in Beijing traffic for hours.
The Forbidden City doesn't take as long as you expect. There are millions of tourists all being herded through the same thoroughfare. Get the audio guide. It's narrated by Roger Moore! You can go to Tianamen Square for sunrise and sunset to see the raising / lowering of the Chinese flag.
Go and see a park in the early morning for Tai Chi, Ballroom Dancing, Gym and Chinese Yoyo en-masse. You will pay an entry fee for every park you see.
Hire a bicycle and ride around. Beijing is all flat and the caos is actually easy to navigate. There are bicycle lanes on the major roads.
Taste the street food in the hutongs, cheap, delicious and we didn't have any tummy problems.
Have fun getting rid of the 'art students' who want to show you their gallery!
