Pingyao has a scam that you have to pay 120 yuan and then get a ticket to visit all the museums in the town and be able to walk on the wall. It's a all or nothing deal.

Organise your transport out of Pingyao as soon as you can as train tickets are sometimes hard to come by. If you get a no answer from your hotel/hostel, try others.
